Causal Frontier: Experiments in Science and Life Hosted by AI Product Creators

12:00 AM - 3:00 AM (UTC)

About Event Join us at the Causal Frontier: Experiments in Science and Life, an enlightening evening dedicated to exploring the intricate relationships of cause and effect. Hosted in collaboration with a distinguished UC Berkeley professor specializing in experiments and causality, this event delves into how causal understanding can enhance technologies and decision-making processes. Engage with cutting-edge research, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and connect with fellow AI enthusiasts and professionals. Whether you're a researcher, practitioner, or simply curious about the future of AI, this event promises to offer deep insights and stimulating conversations. Guest speaker: David Reiley, research scientist by trade and curious experimenter by nature, will present an excerpt from his solo theater show "Experiment: Like your life depends on it!" A pioneer in the use of field experiments in economics over the past thirty years, David is passionate about the use of experiments to understand when one thing causes another in human behavior, from auction bidding to charitable giving to digital advertising. After a first career as a tenured professor and a second career of seventeen years as an industry research scientist, David is now attempting a career as a theater artist. This performance combines his intellectual development as an experimental scientist with a look at how David applies his scientific skills to his own love life, in a way that enabled him to survive a series of spectacular disasters. In this show, he hopes both to entertain and to educate, in an attempt to help others benefit from what he has learned. The full show lasts two hours. In this excerpt, David will focus primarily on the lessons he's learned about experimentation and causal inference. Since understanding causality has important applications in all areas of life, those wishing to hear additional stories about his love life should consider attending the full theater experience.
