If you are new to Git, GitHub or Open Source, join us for this free in-person 2-day workshop to grow your Git and GitHub skills, learn how to collaborate with others on code, and discover the world of open source.

As well as learning, there will be competitions, prizes, swag, and plenty of opportunities to network with other attendees.

This event will be hands on, so bring your laptop!

Day 1: Introduction to Git and GitHub
Start your open source journey by learning about Git and GitHub. Get signed up for a free GitHub account, then learn all the basic concepts including repos, cloning, forking, committing code, issues, and raising pull requests. You will get a chance to not only learn these concepts but put your learnings into action as you collaborate with others on code contributions.

Day 2: Get started with open source
This day focuses on open source. Learn from experts about what open source is, and how you can contribute. Discover how making open source contributions can help your career, and learn how to discover communities and get involved.

You will then get another opportunity to work in teams making code contributions as you practice those skills you will need to be a successful open source contributor.
