On this holiday special episode of In the Code Garden, we'll be taking a look at exciting holiday projects, for adults and kids, alike as we create fun holiday decorations using MakeCode and the BBC micro:bit.

Come along to see how you can use LEDs, buttons, and radio signals to create a fun display for a holiday of your choice! Turn what you learn into a fun family or school project with tips from our Co-Host, Helen Kardiosmenos, who will share her experiences as a primary school tech educator.

Renee Noble
Renee is the Regional Cloud Advocate for the Sydney Reactor and the Australia region. She's passionate about technology, education, community, and bringing them all together in-person and online.

As an avid learner and educator, she'd love to help you on your learning journey in a fun and friendly way. Join Renee to learn about Python, web dev, and data science, as she shares her knowledge and discoveries from her latest learning explorations.

Helen Kardiasmenos
Helen is a dedicated and passionate learning designer, teacher, and trainer. With many years of experience working in the classroom as a former technology and innovation teacher and leader at schools across Sydney, she's created amazing tech projects with thousands of students.

Helen also extends that impact through her work as an academic at Swinburn University, where she gives pre-service and early careers teachers the benefits of her years of experience and research. Her latest research project , "Plugged into Unplugged: Teaching Girls to be Leaders and Coders with Technology," earned her the title of 2020 ICTENSW Leader of the Year award.

Helen is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and Trainer, along with having skills in many other educational technologies. This unique collection of skills and experience lead to her recently to founding Nano Bites Education and the Marvellous Mrs K.
